Absolute power.
A few small limits.
One website. One ruler. Your name and proclamation take over the homepage until somebody else takes it from you.
What you get
A confirmed takeover puts your public name, optional message, and optional HTTPS link in the homepage spotlight. You also get a public record of your reign that you can share after it ends. This is symbolic control of a space on a website—not ownership of its domain, code, or business.
The price of this much importance
The regular price is $5 USD per takeover. One payment, no subscription, no bidding war. If you have a valid invitation, one takeover is free and no card is required. Invited reigns are labeled honestly; they are not paid purchases.
During the founding round, entry may be limited to invitations and free drops. The button and form tell you whether paid takeovers are open.
Guest passes and comebacks
A paid Royal takeover comes with two single-use guest passes. A founder invitation also grants two as part of the founding round. You may use a guest pass yourself or share it. If another player redeems your guest pass, you receive one comeback pass, usable only by you.
A free pass appears on the homepage after a random 0–7 day interval. The first successful claim takes the throne immediately and receives one extra guest pass to use or share within 30 days. The drop stays available until claimed, then a new interval begins. The operator can adjust the drop schedule. Opening the homepage or claim form does not reserve it.
Using your own guest pass does not earn a comeback. Guest passes, operator-issued drop invitations, and comeback takeovers never create more guest passes. Each pass shows its expiration in My passes. Opening a link does not redeem it; the first successful takeover does.
A player is recognized by their browser or linked account—not as a verified unique human. The small, fixed supply is the limit: these are free turns in a joke, not money, prizes, tradeable credits, or an unlimited referral economy. Royal and invited reigns obey the same takeover order; paying does not protect you from being overthrown.
How a reign begins—and ends
Your reign begins when a payment is confirmed or an invitation is successfully redeemed. Opening checkout does not reserve the throne. If multiple takeovers arrive together, they take effect one at a time in the order the server confirms them.
There is no guaranteed minimum reign. You could last a month or a moment. The next confirmed takeover ends your reign, even if you are still returning from checkout. Your public record preserves what happened.
There are no cash prizes, payouts, transferable balances, or promised visitors. Being overthrown is the whole point, not a payment failure.
Save your access. Issue a decree.
You can enter anonymously. Without a linked account, private access lives in your browser’s cookies; clearing them can lose access to your controls and unused passes. Your public reign remains in history. Optional Google, Vercel, or GitHub linking, when configured, lets you return to your player from another browser. You can link multiple accounts from each provider to the same POWLOL player. Unlinking keeps your reigns and passes, requires another available sign-in method, and signs out your other POWLOL browser sessions.
Already have two POWLOL accounts? If both have the exact same verified email, the account page may offer a manual merge. You must confirm and sign in to the other account before anything is combined. A successful merge brings both accounts’ reigns, passes, and sign-in methods together and signs out their other browser sessions. Email matches never link accounts automatically, and merging creates no extra passes or rewards.
A linked current ruler can choose one of eight website colors, set the homepage to Auto, Light, or Dark, and update their proclamation or HTTPS link. Auto is the default and follows each visitor’s device. Light or Dark overrides the homepage only; internal pages always follow your device’s preference. The ruler’s official color applies everywhere. Changed text and links are screened. Every edit attempt starts a visible 30-second cooldown, including rejected attempts. Other visitors see changes when they navigate or refresh. Pages do not poll in the background.
When you retake the throne, your last saved colors return and your edit cooldown starts clear. We prefill your last name, proclamation, and link only if you have not already written a new draft. Historical ruler names are not changed by account linking.
Be petty. Don’t be awful.
Friendly rivalry is welcome. Threats, targeted harassment, hate, sexual content, private personal information, deceptive impersonation, scams, illegal material, and malicious links are not. Don’t pretend that your proclamation comes from the operators of POWLOL.
Names, messages, and links may be screened before a takeover and reviewed afterwards. We can remove prohibited content, including from its public record. An automated check is not a guarantee that content is safe. See the safety policy.
Payment problems
A browser redirect alone never confirms payment. If confirmation is delayed, return to your existing takeover status page instead of paying again. Failed or duplicate charges, removal, disputes, and other payment problems are reviewed individually. Nothing here removes rights you have under applicable law.
